The Edmonds Cook Book
Edmonds Cookery Book - Sure to Rise The biggest-selling book (not just cookery book) ever published in New Zealand. After its first publication nearly 90 years ago, and over 3 million copies sold, the Edmonds Cookery Book can be found in almost every New Zealand kitchen and many of its original recipes are celebrated as part of New Zealand cooking tradition.
It all started with 20 year old Thomas J Edmonds who developed and first sold his own baking powder in 1879 in Lyttleton, Canterbury, telling his customers that it was "sure to rise". Living up to its promise, Edmonds Baking Powder became a household favourite and, in 1907, the first edition of the Edmonds Cookery Book was published with 50 pages of "economical everyday recipes and cooking hints".
In this revised edition of 252 pages, recipes have been updated and the book compiled to make recipes easier to find. They are easy to follow, even for the beginner, and they work!
Take this opportunity to update your own, well-loved copy, or send one as a gift, especially to Kiwis living abroad.
