Possum Fur & Leather

The New Zealand Bushtail Possum is the size of a large cat and has thick, luxurious fur. About 80 million of these nocturnal marsupials cause enormous ecological damage to New Zealand's forests and native birds, including the national icon, the Kiwi.

Possum fur is a hollow fibre fur which has millions of air pockets to capture warmth and is incredibly light weight. These superior insulation properties keep body heat in and cold air out. It is one of the least flammable textiles in common use. Possum fur is naturally non-allergenic and biodegradable. It requires no factory or chemicals to produce it and is a self-replenishing natural product. Possum fur is a highly durable natural fibre and, if properly cared for, will last a lifetime.
